Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026

Home State is operated by Joe Builds Pty Limited (ABN 90 630 051 795), Coffs Harbour NSW. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Home State and Joe Builds Pty Limited.

We measure homes and buildings, and we keep a private record of what we find. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Your contact details. Your name, phone number, email address and the address of the property.
  • Booking and payment details. The service you booked, dates, and payment records. Card payments are processed by our booking and payment providers. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Property information. Measurements, readings, photos, videos, thermal images, notes and reports about the property we assess. Some photos may show the inside of your home.
  • What you tell us. Messages, emails, texts, call notes and anything you share about the property or your concerns.
  • Portal account details. If you have a Home State login, your email address and sign-in records.
  • Website information. Our websites use cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics and the Meta pixel, to understand how people use the site and to measure our advertising. These tools record things like the pages visited, the device and browser used, and clicks on buttons such as "Book". They do not give us your name.

Why we collect it

  • To book, carry out and invoice the work you ask for.
  • To prepare your report and your private Home State record.
  • To contact you about your booking, your record, and follow-up measurements.
  • To improve our services and our websites.
  • To show our advertising to people likely to find it useful.
  • To meet our legal, tax and insurance obligations.

Who can see your information

  • Your record is private. Only you, people you choose to share it with, and our team can see it.
  • Service providers who help us run the business, such as our booking, payment, email, website, hosting, file storage and accounting providers. Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States.
  • Professionals you ask us to involve, such as a builder, architect or specialist, and only with your agreement.
  • Anyone the law requires us to share it with.

We do not sell your personal information.

Photos and examples

We never publish your address, your name or anything that identifies your home without your written permission. If we would like to use photos or readings from your home as an example, we will ask you first, and you can say no.

How we keep it safe

Your record sits behind a secure login. We limit who on our team can access it, and we use reputable providers to store and back up our files. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

How long we keep it

We keep your property record for as long as it is useful to you and for as long as the law requires us to keep business records. You can ask us to delete your record. We will do so unless we need to keep part of it by law.

Your choices

  • Access and correction. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it.
  • Marketing. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time.
  • Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work.
